What Social Security requires

  • Applications aren’t accepted by fax

Social Security no longer accepts a faxed, signed application as a valid application, though a faxed one still sets a protective filing date. Read Social Security’s notice

  • Send forms to your local office

Social Security takes any paper form by fax at your local office, unless the form says otherwise. Read it on SSA.gov

  • Most evidence isn’t accepted by fax

Social Security doesn’t accept a faxed copy of most evidence, such as a birth certificate: it asks for the original, or a copy certified by the office that keeps the record. Read Social Security’s rule

How it works

  3. 3

    Pay and send.

Add your email for the confirmation, pay $4.99, and send. We email you when it’s delivered.
